The Roraima berry (Latin: Myrciaria dubia), also known as camu camu, is a small, sour fruit that grows mainly in the Amazon rainforest, particularly in the floodplains of Peru, Brazil, Colombia and Venezuela. The name ‘Roraima’ is derived from Monte Roraima, the famous table mountain in the border triangle between Venezuela, Brazil and Guyana, in whose region the plant occurs. Indigenous peoples in the Amazon region have always used the fruit as a tonic and natural medicine for various ailments such as colds or inflammation.
