*In Venezuela, passion fruit is called ‘parchita’. This name comes from the language of a Caribbean people who once lived in eastern Venezuela. Strictly speaking, ‘parchita’ is a diminutive form of ‘parcha’, a term used in the Antilles Islands for much larger passion fruits.
