The Arepa Reina Pepiada is one of Venezuela’s most famous dishes and was created in the 1950s in honour of Susana Duijm, Miss World 1955, whose nickname ‘La Pepiada’ gave the filling its name. This delicious arepa consists of a corn-based flatbread (arepa) filled with a creamy mixture of chicken, avocado, mayonnaise, coriander and lime. The combination of tender chicken and buttery avocado makes it a national dish. Originally popular in Caracas, it is now a symbol of Venezuelan cuisine nationwide – filling, versatile and full of flavour. A true street food classic!
